Frequently Asked Questions |
| SIGMOD | Home | FAQ | Job Posting Guide |
| 1. | Is the dbjobs service free? |
| Yes. Both posting a job advertisement to dbjobs and searching the dbjobs database are absolutely free. | |
| 2. | Do I need to join ACM or SIGMOD before accessing the dbjobs system? |
| No, you do not have to join ACM or SIGMOD in order to use the dbjobs
database. This is true for students and employers alike.
However, joining SIGMOD, the premier professional organization for database researchers and practitioners, is highly recommended in general. |
|
| 3. | Why do I need to register first? |
| To avoid misuse of the dbjobs system, all users need to register first. In addition to preventing misuse, registration also allows personalization of the search results. | |
| 4. | I was not able to activate my account. Something is wrong with the activation URL I got from the system. |
| Please make sure that you type the entire URL, since it is usually too long to fit in one line and wraps over to the next line. | |
| 5. | I just placed a job posting and is not in the database yet. Is something wrong? |
| Nothing is wrong. To maintain high quality in the jobs database, most job postings need to go through the moderator and usually get published within 1-2 business days. You should receive an email message when your posting is published. | |
| 6. | I placed an job posting some time ago and is no longer listed. What happened? |
| Job postings are only listed until their expiration date. | |
| 7. | What is your privacy policy? |
| Please look at the disclaimer. | |
| 8. | Where did you get the list of Countries? |
| The list of Countries was taken from the CIA World Factbook 2000, specifically the following URL: http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/indexgeo.html. | |
